The Allman Brothers

Allman Brothers / Gregg Allman, who do you prefer to listen to?
I want to know who you prefer one over the other or both equal in their own ritual. I've seen the Allman Brothers in concert many years ago at a remote location. Great gig! What songs you like from one or both. Thank you in advance to share! Take care and have a good one. Timothy Midnight Rider was done by Gregg Allman although he has written a lot of songs for the Allman Brothers. He was vocal on a lot of their songs. When his brother, Duane, who died in 1971 was not so much to sing and Gregg was much better at it. I love that song by the way. Great pick. Thanks for all your replies. Thanks Cydonian Iso. links to public Mule was quite good.
The Allman Bros. was the only band to have 4 guitar players in Rolling Stone's Top 100 guitarists. They have just celebrated their 40th anniversary together as a band and their 2 current guitar players two of the best in the world, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks. Warren's side project, Government Mule is a of the best jam bands ever, and Warren is labeled as the hardest working musician in the rock. He will be touring and playing guitar with the dead this spring. If you are in DVD's pick-up Allman's, Live at the Beacon Theater and Government Mule's A Tail of Two Cities. Both are fabulaous.

Decade of Hits 1969-79 $8.46 With their dueling guitar leads and harmonies built on a double drummer foundation, the Allman Brothers Band cast the mold for the southern rock sound that would proliferate in the ’70s. Virtuoso musicians, their songs drew upon a number of southern influences, including country, the blues, New Orleans jazz, and even gospel, creating a sound that was distinctly theirs. Decade of Hits is a great ca… |

The Allman Brothers at Fillmore East $4.78 There has never been a better showcase for improvisational rock than this 1971 concert recording, and few (if any) live rock albums are in its rank. With only two studio albums (and plenty of touring) under their belt, the Georgia sextet tore into the Fillmore East with road-tested buoyancy. Titanic guitarist Duane Allman was at the peak of his powers, pushing his foil, Dickey Betts, to unsurpasse… |
